The second international ice hockey tournament among Islamic countries, the ADIHIC Cup, will be held in Kazan on the ice of Tatneft Arena from May 11 to 15.
The competition will be held under the auspices of the Association for the development of ice hockey in islamic countries with the support of the Ak Bars hockey Club. The tournament is timed to coincide with the XV International Economic Forum “Russia – the Islamic World Kazan Forum”, which will be held in the capital of Tatarstan from May 14 to 19.
8 men’s teams from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Mongolia, Iran, Lebanon, Bahrain and Kyrgyzstan will take part in the competition. The team of the Republic of Tatarstan will also play in the tournament.
The teams will play 20 matches over 5 game days on the Tatneft Arena ice. The national teams are divided into two playing groups according to the level of hockey skills: A and B.
The first one will feature the teams of Lebanon, Kazakhstan, Tatarstan and a mixed team (Kyrgyzstan + Turkey). The second group will feature teams from Iran, Bahrain and Azerbaijan, as well as another mixed team (Mongolia + Pakistan). The ADIHIC Cup will be the first ever international tournament for the team from Azerbaijan.
The first match of the tournament will be held on May 11 at Tatneft Arena at 11:00. All meetings will be shown live on the ADIHIC Youtube channel.
Applications for accreditation for the tournament for media are accepted until May 1 by the official mail of the Organization: adihic-official@yandex.ru
The ADIHIC was established in 2023 in Kazan at the first meeting of the working group with the participation of representatives of hockey federations from 15 countries of the Middle East, Asia and Africa. Today, ADIHIC consists of hockey federations from 17 states.
In 2023, the Organization held hockey practices in the UAE, Bahrain, Turkmenistan and Oman. Also, the experts of the Ak Bars Academy organized training camps for young hockey players from Kyrgyzstan.
