IIHF World Championships: where will they be held and which ADIHIC countries will participate?


Association for the Development of Ice Hockey in the Islamic Countries was established in 2023 in Kazan, Russian Federation at the first meeting of the working group with representatives of ice hockey federations of the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Delegates from 14 countries, presidents of Ice Hockey Federations of the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Algeria, Oman, Bahrain, Lebanon, Iran, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and representatives of the Republic of Tatarstan Hockey Federation agreed on sports and cultural cooperation and interaction in the development of Ice Hockey, organization of joint sports tournaments and exchange of experience between organizations.

The goal of the organization is the development of Ice Hockey in the countries with the leading religion of Islam, the development and popularization of sports, as well as mutual cultural exchange.

Cooperation will allow countries to adopt the experience of Russian hockey, train players, coaches and referees and gain access to methods of young ice hockey players training.

Summer is the best time for ice hockey development. It’s the best time for every hockey player or team when they can fully prepare for the season

We are announcing the recruitment of participants or groups for the ADIHIC summer training camps. We, together with our coaches, have prepared several slots for you:

  • July 2 – 11
  • July 10 – 20
  • August 1 – 20

Our training camps are divided according to the level and field of preparation:

  • Camp for beginner players
  • Camp for advanced players
  • Advanced training courses for trainers
  • Camp for goalkeepers
  • Special programs for children of all ages

We provide each participant with:

  • Three meals a day (according to Halal standards)
  • Accommodation in a double/triple room
  • In-depth training courses
  • Transfer from the airport to the collection center and vice versa

In accordance with the needs of the customer Ak Bars Hockey Academy is ready to implement a program for the development of players from 9 to 18 years. It includes training camps.

Field players master skating technique, stickhandling technique, as well as individual tactics with the practice of various elements of the game.

Goalkeepers work at the training camp on technical orientation and features of goalkeeping tactics.

The fee program is formed taking into account the customer’s requests.

Coaching staff at training camps

The training process involves coaching staff who have extensive experience in developing young hockey players within the framework of technical, tactical and physical training. By developing training plans coaching staff takes into account the capabilities of young hockey players. Training includes work both field players and goalkeepers.

The first international Ice Hockey Tournament among Islamic countries and the Republic of Tatarstan – Kazan Hockey Cup

In 2023 the Russian city of Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, hosted the first international hockey tournament among Islamic countries and the Republic of Tatarstan Kazan Hockey Cup.

In 3 game days, men’s and women’s teams from 12 countries played 30 matches. Winners of the men’s divisions were teams from Tatarstan and the UAE, in the Ihsan division the first place was shared by 3 teams – “Jeddah Eagles” from Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan and the joint team of Algeria, Morocco and Lebanon. The women’s division was won by the team of Tatarstan.

Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and President of the Ice Hockey Federation of Russia Vladislav Tretiak noted the great importance of the Tournament not only for the development of sport, but also to strengthen international ties between the peoples of Islamic countries.

International Ice Hockey Forum Kazan Hockey Cup

In 2023 the capital of Tatarstan, one of the leading regions of the Russian Federation, hosted the first international forum for ice hockey federations of Islamic countries.

Speakers made presentations in Kazan on the latest techniques of diagnosing injuries in sports medicine, working on the psychology of athletes, developing methods of educating young athletes and training hockey referees.


The “Ak Bars” Hockey Academy scientific and methodological group has developed educational resources for training young hockey players. In order to develop hockey schools students of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation, schools were provided with the developed materials.

Specialists of the Academy provide training for children’s coaches, controlling and adjusting training to achieve not only team results, but also individual development of each hockey player.

Sledge hockey, the most accessible sport for people with locomotor disabilities, has been developing in Tatarstan since 2020.

Sledding helps with not only socialization and physical development – sledge hockey helps improve body control and balance, so that athletes experience positive dynamics.

Hockey for the visually impaired

A type of hockey for people with visual impairments. The ice can be played by players with a partial lack of visual acuity, as well as with total blindness.

Special hockey

A type of non-contact hockey aimed at athletes with mental disabilities. The game uses standard equipment, the rules are as close to classical hockey as possible.

Sledge hockey

A type of ice hockey in which players use sports sleds and two shortened sticks instead of skates to move on the ice.
