The first-ever Asian Hockey Youth Camp in Tashkent: how was it?

Last summer, a total of 131 participants attended the first-ever U16 Asian Ice Hockey Youth Camp in Uzbekistan. It was result of a first collaboration between the OCA and IIHF. This event has very sustainable meaning to further growth of Ice Hockey of the Asian continent and region

Participants from a total of 27 Asian countries participated to the one week camp in August and returned back home with meaningful memories, new friendships but most importantly with new ice hockey skills and knowledge. The selection process was the following: the 23 Asian IIHF Member National Associations (MNAs) nominated their participants via their National Olympic Committees and other members of the Olympic Council of Asia, that are not IIHF members at a current stage: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Pakistan and Vietnam

The program was packed with ice-sessions, off-ice practices, classroom sessions as well as scrimmages, focusing on coaching leadership development along with athletes and officiating programs

Remind, that in August , a several meetings were held on the development of hockey with the members of ADIHIC. In the online format, we talked with the representers of Islamic countries. In cooperation with the experts of the Ak Bars hockey club, an audit of the hockey infrastructure in these countries was conducted in various areas, and ways of developing this sport in the regions were also outlined
