Ice hockey development in Oman

28.11.2023

Recently, the experts of the Ak Bars hockey club visited Muscat. This is the organization’s third trip this fall to conduct master classes for the participating ADIHIC countries. Recall that the delegation included two coaches of the Ak Bars system Andrey Kazennykh and Andrey Makarov, as well as the club’s content manager Nikita Likhachev.

On the first day of the visit, the delegation was met by the OSSC General Supervisor of Ice Sports Qasim Talib Al Bourai, who showed our specialists the local ice hockey infrastructure and told about the training of the players of the Oman national team.

As our experts noted, they were pleasantly surprised not only by the hospitality of the host party, but also by the stunning landscapes of Muscat and its surroundings. As part of their leisure time off the ice, the hockey players of the Oman national team organized a mountain walk for our experts, as well as a short boat trip across the Persian Gulf.

The trip turned out to be short, but memorable. Our coaches conducted practices with three groups of players: a mixed adult team (there were both women’s and men’s national teams), a youth team and a beginner group of children. Our coaches noted that the level of training of young ice hockey players in Oman is pleasantly surprising. Especially considering the small amount of time for classes. Young players have a great potential for development, and after a few years of training, they can perform at a decent level on the international stage.

Also, our content manager consulted with an OSSC SMM specialist and gave various tips on improving the quality of ice hockey content.

ADIHIC continues to travel in order to conduct master classes for the participating countries of the organization. In the near future, we are going to visit several more countries, as well as take part in an international tournament among children’s teams.
